Birthdays and birthdays

Birthday parties. When was the last time you attended one?

For 2007, I decided to skip most club birthdays and join the 'home' ones instead. Age perhaps, but it is also the friendship rating points that we are talking here.

Club birthdays require lesser commitment and the invitations usually come from friends you 'barely' know or 'rarely see'. Cynically, I think we'r only there to fill up the room to make a crowd. The comfort level goes up with each person you shake hands with and then, either you go really drunk to have a good time, or stand really still to watch peeps having a good time.

Home parties are different. Not confine to just home, it also includes those dinners at restaurants (like mine at Izakaya and yian's at Al cerdo), at pubs or even by the streets (circa 1993 bash at DU). I recommend that you only attend home parties for friends that you really love because the comfort level can sometimes fluctuate due to smaller group dynamics with conversations mandatory. It is also very important that you are commited to be part of the celebration, not the crowd. Like Yeng's 27th birthday party at Kianti's Kelana Jaya on Wed night. Definitely one of the best parties with the friends that truly spells C-O-M-F-O-R-T.

It's not the evening sky
It's more the way your eyes
Laughing as they glance
Across the great span
Good people like you
Comfort you and I would do

Speechless to say, I like street birthdays. May I attend yours?
