To be Malaysia Inc

"The focus of our future must be on a 'brain economy', where innovation and brain power is the cornerstone of economic policies. Maybe then, our factory workers will earn RM5000 a month and not need to sell goreng pisang and tosai to supplement their income." The Edge, this week.

MOI declare 2010 as Malaysia Creative Year to increase the consciousness that creativity economy will boost GDP. Initial focus will be to boost local film industry and they've already taken steps to improving RTM, our least-loved government TV station.

If you snicker at this, think again in broader sense. What can you get out from this declaration?

Film is not a medium, and it's not just about TV. It would open paths for all content creators be it writing, graphic design, animation, music, marketing, even tech incubation. If you put on your enterprising hat to think in context, how can you manifest these niches into cultural, social and economic innovations?

That's the real intend of what the govt is looking for. They probably know what to do but maybe not how to start. Speed is the new big. So, stop marinading your ideas and START SOMETHING.

Welcome to the industry of imagination.

Snicker, and you'll lose. :=)
